Obama’s C-SPAN Transparency Promises; Broken

January 6, 2010 @ BryanNo Comments

We all know Obama promised to have the health care talks televised on C-SPAN, but what happened? Deals are being made behind closed doors and votes are being bought. C-SPAN has called the President sending a letter to Congress asking for access to the meetings. A portion of the C-SPAN’s letter reads:

President Obama, Senate and House leaders , many of your rank-and-file members, and the nation’s editorial pages have all talked about the value of transparent discussions on reforming the nation’s health care system. Now that the process moves to the critical stage of reconciliation between the Chambers, we respectfully request that you allow the public full access, through television, to legislation that will affect the lives of every single American.”

Pelosi reacted to the letter by throwing the President under the bus. When asked about the campaign promise made by the President, Pelosi responded “There were a number of things he (Obama) swore on the campaign trail.”

It remains to be seen if Obama will attempt to keep his thus far broken promise.
